Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) often refers to how companies take responsibility for their effects on environmental and social wellbeing. At Greencarrier we see CSR as a philosophy to live by and we call it the Greencarrier Spirit.

We aim to act long-term and in a sustainable way in everything we do. In all we do, we have our Greencarrier Spirit influencing and reminding us. The Greencarrier Spirit philosophy is based on UN’s Global Compact, which provides guidelines for ethical business based on human rights, employment rights, environmental awareness and anti-corruption.

Our core values define who we are

We work with the Greencarrier Spirit from four perspectives: Employees, business, society and environment. How they are linked to our work and to our mindset, you will find out here.

In the middle of our Greencarrier Spirit Circle, we have our core values; Involvement, Commitment, Humour & Joy. They define us and what we stand for. They are also the foundation for how we do business in a responsible and sustainable way, as well as they set the standard for how we treat our employees and collegues.

The Greencarrier Spirit Fund and internal involvement

We encourage our staff to get involved. Every year Greencarrier sets aside 1% of the yearly profit in something that we call the Greencarrier Spirit Fund. All of our employees are welcome to apply for money to be able to start up their local CSR projects. For us, this is a great way to let our CSR projects be influenced by the passion from our employees.

Some of our Greencarrier Spirit Projects during 2016

Green Run in Hong Kong

Hong Kong Green Council is annually organizing Hong Kong Green Day. The festival is founded to encourage the industrial and commercial sectors regarding greater environmental responsibility and protection as well as transforming Hong Kong into a greener community. All the participants were encouraged to “Go Green, Act Green” and except running, they were inspired to wear clothes in green. From Greencarrier’s side, our collegues from Greencarrier Freight Services Hong Kong participated and spread their Greencarrier Spirit.

Mitt Liv – Mentoring
We collaborate with Mitt Liv (My Life) in Gothenburg, Sweden where three of our staff members are proud mentors of a program that helps people with foreign background enter the Swedish labour market. The mentor program involves meetings, seminars and training opportunities as well as practicing of the Swedish language or discussing day-to-day challenges. We believe in diversity and inclusion across all aspects of, not only our business, but in society in general.

Plan International
Each Christmas, Greencarrier donates money to a charitable cause. For the Christmas donation 2016, our employees decided that the money should be donated to Plan International. They work for children’s rights and equality for girls in developing countries. Watch this video to learn more:

WWF
Greencarrier is a member of WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature). The organisation is building a future where people can live in harmony with nature and focuses on making sure that the nature resources are used in a sustainable way. We are proud to be a part of this.

Hope of Run in Lithuania
Greencarrier sponsored a part of the 9th Hope of Run-event, a charity race along the streets of Klaipeda, Lithuania. From our side, our Service Center and Greencarrier Freight Services Lithuania participated in this race, combined with donating their blood during this event.

Barngolfen
Greencarrier is involved in “Barngolfen” (The Children’s Golf), which is the largest charity golf in the Nordic countries. The goal of this event is to reach 2 million SEK, which will improve the waiting room environments of the radiology department at Queen Silvia Children’s Hospital in Gothenburg.

Education Centre in Marocco
One of our former employees travelled to Morocco last fall, to help build an education center in the High Atlas Mountains for the local children with the age of 6-12. The children live in a very isolated community and have trouble learning the language and with education. By building the education centre, it enables them to learn the wider spoken languages and benefit the most out of their education opportunities. Our Greencarrier Spirit Fund donated money to this project.

Swedish Society for Nature Conservation
We are members of the Swedish Society for Nature conservation, which is an environmental organization that spreads knowledge, chart environmental threats, propose solutions and influence politicians and authorities, both nationally and internationally.
