Greencarrier enters partnership with The Perfect World Foundation and their ‘Project Ocean’

Together with the non-profit organisation, The Perfect World Foundation, Greencarrier signs a partnership aimed at mitigating adverse effects on our oceans and to protect marine biodiversity.

Greencarrier is proud to announce a new partnership with The Perfect World Foundation (TPFW) as part of our commitment to sustainability, including biodiversity and the state of our oceans, which are significantly impacted by our industry.

Our new partnership with The Perfect World Foundation (TPFW) now makes this possible. As the first organisation to join the Greencarrier Foundation, TPFW helps us mitigate the negative effects of plastic pollution and lost fishing gear on oceans and marine life.

Founded in the early 2000s, the Sweden-based non-profit TPFW has tirelessly worked to preserve and support wildlife and nature in crisis. One of their key initiatives, ‘Project Ocean,’ addresses crucial issues affecting marine environments:

The oceans are Earth’s lifeline, covering around 70% of the planet’s surface and playing a crucial role in maintaining the global ecological balance. However, these valuable ecosystems are under serious threats due to human impacts such as pollution, climate change, ghost nets, and other lost fishing gear. In order to counteract these threats, The Perfect World Foundation has launched Project Ocean, a comprehensive initiative that includes 10 action points to preserve the marine environment and biodiversity. By supporting this project, we can all contribute to ensuring healthy oceans.

“Through our Greencarrier Foundation, we are determined to make a positive impact by supporting maritime and ocean-related projects aimed at reducing the environmental impact of our industry. With Project Ocean and the help of The Perfect World Foundation, we can address the negative effects of caused by human activities on, and close to, the oceans. Greencarrier’s goal is to tackle both the causes and effects to our deteriorating oceans, and The Perfect World Foundation is a perfect partner in helping us doing just that,” says Patrik Westræus, head of sustainability at Greencarrier Group.

“The oceans are facing major problems, such as plastic waste and coral bleaching, which have a significant negative impact on marine life. Thanks to our cooperation with Greencarrier, we can increase our efforts to raise awareness about these issues and implement more concrete actions”, says Ragnhild Jacobsson, CEO and co-founder of The Perfect World Foundation.

About The Perfect World Foundation
The Perfect World Foundation was established in Sweden in the early 2000s to support wildlife and nature in crisis, with a focus on preserving local and global biodiversity – all life on Earth. Through various events, the organization spreads knowledge and creates conditions for driving its own initiatives, as well as supporting a number of independent grassroots projects around the world.

About Greencarrier Foundation
The Greencarrier Foundation is dedicated to addressing the environmental impact of the shipping industry, particularly on the oceans. Global shipping accounts for approximately 3% of all global emissions and contributes to ocean acidification and other forms of pollution. Additionally, the oceans face increasing waste pollution, including plastics, which makes them warmer and less hospitable to marine life. Through the Foundation, Greencarrier aim to mitigate these adverse effects by supporting projects and organisations focused on sustainability in the maritime sector and ocean conservation.
