Providing opportunities to students and young professionals is of great importance to us at Greencarrier. We believe education is a crucial key to the overall development of an individual and the society at large. This is why we decided to sponsor the trainee program for future freight forwarders at NHO Logistic & Transport.

Trainee program for future freight forwarders

The trainee program for future freight forwarders at NHO Logistic & Transport (Norwegian Logistics and Freight Association) is a two-year education program that alternates theoretical and practical training. During the period the students are offered an internship at an international logistics and transport company.

Internship at the Greencarrier Oslo office

An internship can be an important step towards a solid career in the future. One of the trainees that we have taken on board is Trine Lindgren. She is doing her trainee period at our Greencarrier Freight office in Oslo, Norway. Trine grew up in Alesund, one of Norway’s largest export clusters, where she also studied export marketing at the University of Alesund. She enjoys her internship at Greencarrier.

“It’s fun. We’re around fifty employees here at the Oslo office, all with good spirit and vast experience of communicating with partners worldwide. As the youngest in the office, I am fully respected and I have daily contact with customers both in Norway and abroad. What I like the most about this job is the communication and conversations with customers. The most challenging part about this profession is that you have many partners to relate to. Customers prefer to receive their goods as quickly as possible – preferably yesterday – so, it’s always a rush to make things happen.

Trine thinks the trainee program, which includes the trainee period, is a fantastic way of entering work life. “It combines theory and practice in a very good way. During my internship here at Greencarrier I will be working in the different departments of ocean transport, air freight and road transport. The learning curve rises steeply!”

Also the trade curve in Norway is rising. The import and export of goods to Norway covers 1,500 billion annually, exceeding the Norwegian national treasury. It is the basis for the country’s existence as we know it. The freight forwarding industry consists of 800 companies in Norway. Greencarrier is together with other large, medium and small sized companies part of the international logistics network.

Trine believes that the profession as a freight forwarder fits most, but perhaps especially those who want a little extra speed and excitement in everyday life. “It’s a very exciting industry, much is happening and it’s in constant development. It’s the freight forwarders, the unsung heroes, full of knowledge about import and export regulations, customs clearance, safety, laws and logistics solutions, who ensure that goods are moved from one country to another.”

We do agree with Trine – freight forwarders truly make things happen! I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post.
