“You’re never just a cog in the machine” – Jakob Wojenko on finding the right fit at Greencarrier

When Jakob Wojenko joined Greencarrier Liner Agency in January 2025, he brought with him not only a solid background in shipping and logistics, but also a strong desire for something different – something smaller, more personal, and built around real collaboration.

From the giants to a team that clicks

Jakob’s previous experience at one of the top three players in the industry left him craving a more personal workplace. “At my last job, we were 70-plus people on my floor alone,” he says. “Here, we’re around 15. Everyone knows everyone, and we genuinely collaborate.”

After finishing his degree in Shipping and Logistics at Chalmers University of Technology, Jakob’s career took him from internships to import roles and eventually to customer service at CMA. But it was the positive energy and reputation of Greencarrier – paired with a tip-off from industry friends and a nudge from LinkedIn – that got him to apply.

“It just always seemed like people here liked their jobs,” he explains. “You could feel that in every interaction.”

Inside the export role

Jakob describes his job as a problem-solving customer service representative on the export side. “We help clients get their containers where they need to go – China, the U.S., South America. We check space availability, coordinate equipment, handle documents, and troubleshoot along the way.”

Much of this involves working closely with freight forwarders, who act as middlemen between shippers and carriers. “You get to know the people you email every day. You start to learn their working styles, who needs quick answers, who’s more relaxed – it helps everything flow.”

Why culture matters

What surprised Jakob most about Greencarrier wasn’t the workflows or logistics – it was the culture. “You hear companies talk about values like trust and joy,” he says. “But here, it shows. Managers treat you with respect and you feel safe asking questions.”

That safety net makes a big difference. “When mistakes happen – and they will – we take responsibility as a team. You’re not left on your own. That sense of support is pretty rare.”

Looking ahead

Although he’s still in his first year, Jakob’s already thinking about what’s next. “There’s room to grow here,” he says, noting that many long timers have rotated across departments or even worked abroad. “It’s nice to know that door is open.”
